Preparing For Your Session
Family Sessions
The first thing I will tell families is...please, please, please don't choose to put each member of your family in the same color. Doing this is much too uniform and you'll all blend in to one another. Your colors should coordinate but they don't all need to match. Its also a good idea to consider the season when choosing your colors. For fall, choose colors that will compliment the beautiful foliage. Think burgundy, eggplant, rust, mustard, navy, and olive. In the winter bold colors and jewel tones work well. Red, navy, emerald, black, and gray. For spring and summer, try lighter colors. Dusty blue, mauve, nude, pastels, and muted tones work well against the green. Avoid super busy patterns, pinstripes (they don't photograph well), large logos and writing, and neon colors (they leave a color cast on skin). It is ok to have some patterns, just not too many. Start with one family members' outfit and coordinate the other outfits around it. Dads skip the hats and Moms don't be afraid to wear that gorgeous dress hanging in your closet. Don't stress about your kiddos misbehaving or not wanting to have their photos taken. Leave that to me. Sometimes the best thing to do is to let the littles play and do their thing.
